Spend a Day in St Andrews

West Sands Beach

One of two award-winning beaches in St Andrews, West Sands holds a coveted Blue Flag. Just five minutes walk from the hotel, the beach is a vast expanse of clean sand, perfect for beautiful walks. West Sands is host to children’s sand-castle building competitions during the summer months and is used year round for sports such as kiting, parakarting and land yachting.

St Andrews Botanic Gardens

Described as a 'hidden gem' of Scotland, these gardens contain about 8,000 species of ferns, herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees. Some are native to Scotland but most grow wild in other regions of the world. Experience variety as you explore a water garden, heath garden, peat garden, rock garden and glasshouses.

Fife Coastal Path

Running approximately 135km/81 miles of Fife’s coastline, the Coastal Path spans from the unique and imposing Forth Bridge, all the way north to the Tay Bridge at the gateway to Dundee. Passing through historical and natural landscapes along the way, the Coastal Path caters to a range of walking abilities.

Walking Tours of St Andrews

Take in the historic aspects of the town as by touring the University, the Castle and the Cathedral ruins. Audio-guided historical tours are also available to hire from the Tourist Information Centre on Market Street.

Himalayas

As the name suggests this 18-hole putting green is not made up of flat terrain! Great fun for adults and children alike, the Himalayas is only a short walk from the hotel.

St Andrews Aquarium

Step through the doors of St Andrews Aquarium and be transported into an underwater world of adventure and discovery. With black reef sharks, spiders, lobsters, an array of tropical fish, piranhas, loveable seals, meerkats, a waddle of 4 Humboldt penguins and much more there is something for everyone! The Scottish Deer Centre

A walk on the wild side awaits you at The Scottish Deer Centre, just outside Cupar. Watch nine different species of deer in the company of experienced rangers, explore the tree top walkway, join feeding time in the Wolf Wood, and enjoy birds of prey demonstrations in the outdoor theatre. There are also outdoor and indoor play areas, retail shops and a courtyard coffee shop.

Kite Flying

The award-winning Blue Flag West Sands beach is now a popular haunt both with kiting enthusiasts and those just beginning. The beach is only a five-minute walk from the hotel and children’s kites can be purchased locally.

Craigtoun Country Park

Craigtoun has a great deal to offers visitors of all ages. Younger visitors will enjoy the adventure playground, miniature railway, trampolines and bouncy castle, while older visitors will appreciate the formal gardens, glasshouses and bowling green. The park also has a Countryside Centre run by the Ranger Service, where visitors can learn more about the wildlife and fauna of the park and surrounding area.

A great Family Day Out – Family Run for Family Fun! Muddy Boots is a family business and is seriously kid-friendly with children's entertainment available throughout with gyro cars, tractor track, sandpit, playhouse and tyre swings, super downhill grass sledging, twin seat trikes and a quad train, a giant jumping pillow and huge covered play area.
