Sample Summer Itinerary for “Luxury Kids” at the Old Course Hotel:
On arrival, enjoy a customised “children’s check-in”, where the children are encouraged to “sign” their own check-in cards. Children will receive a welcome pack on arrival, containing pens and colouring books.
You will be taken to your luxury bedroom to discover a host of treats, including a welcome gift and Old Course Teddy Bear (which you can take home), a toy box crammed with toys, games and books to suit your age, robes and slippers, a massaging cot and complete bath set for baby.
It’s time to discover the magic of the Old Course Hotel and meet the lovely staff, with the help of the “Quiz” which is a customised treasure hunt inviting you to explore every nook and cranny. Investigate the plush corridors; chat to the kilted doorman; and visit the shops in the hotel to find out the answers to receive a sticker and win a prize!
While Mummy is checking into the luxury Kohler Waters Spa for what she calls “her” time, it’s time to enjoy the children’s splash time with Daddy in the hotel’s amazing 20-metre swimming pool.
Next, grab a bucket and spade and head down to West Sands Beach, located just in front of the hotel. Kites are also available from the Concierge Desk. Have a whale of a time on the beach – running in and out of the North Sea, building sandcastles and lots of family fun.
Head back to the hotel to find some children’s VIP amenities in the room – “dunking donuts” made by the pasty chef and Scottish strawberries from the local farm– complete with chocolate and vanilla dipping sauce. Yum!
Now it’s time for a fabulous dining experience in Sands, which is the hotel’s informal brasserie. Don’t forget to take your welcome pack – the colouring book and pens will come in handy. Choose a freshly prepared dish from the children’s menu. There’s also complimentary food and a highchair for baby and a mocktail on arrival for the teenagers.
Back up to the bedroom with full tummies. Baby’s cot and your little beds have been turned down and the teddies are tucked in. With all that fresh air, exercise and good food, you’ll enjoy a full night’s sleep!
The following morning it’s time to get up and start the adventure all over again with a hearty breakfast in Sands, followed by a professional golf lesson at The Duke’s. Afterwards you’re exploring St Andrews: there’s the Sea Life Centre / St Andrews Aquarium; the Himalayas Putting Green; the Botanic Gardens; Craigtoun Country Park; and East Sands Leisure Centre. And if that’s not enough, there’s so much to do in the surrounding area including spotting seals from the sand dunes at Tentsmuir; visiting the Scottish Deer Centre near Cupar; going on a family trail at the Hill of Tarvit; and horse riding at Kilconquhar Castle. Where to start? When’s the next visit, mum and dad?
